A.R. Rahman’s ‘Jai Ho’ covered by the Pussycat Dolls

10th March 2009

AR Rahman PictureSoundtrack would like to congratulate legendary Bollywood composer A.R Rahman on reportedly becoming the first Indian musician to break in to the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart.

Composer of the soundtrack to Danny Boyle’s Oscar winning  ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, Rahman’s  track ‘Jai Ho’ from the film has been covered by pop superstars The Pussycat Dolls, with their version rocketing 85 places to number 15 on the chart this week.

Of course, this is small fries to a composer that has sold over 100 Million Soundtracks and over 200 Million Tapes worldwide, but it’s nice to get some pop recognition, we guess.
