Here's a little teaser trailer for Cirque Du Freak, and to give it its US subtitle, The Vampire's Assistant. And the good news is that it looks truly, undeniably freaky, with some gorgeously gothic effects: as if Tim Burton and HP Lovecraft got together to design a circus and its denizens.

The film stars Chris Massoglia as Darren Shan, a teenage boy who is turned into a vampire by an eccentric bloodsucker called Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly), only to find himself caught in a war between rival vampire factions. And we all know that that's never a good idea.

The rather promising cast also includes Ken Watanabe, Salma Hayek, Patrick Fugit, Orlando Jones and Jane Krakowski. Paul Weitz directs, and co-wrote the script with Brian Helgeland, based on the book by Darren Shan.
