‘Defendor’ Trailer
From www.empireonline.com
This is looking like a good year for Woody Harrelson comedies. We've got ‘Zombieland' on the way, and the Canadian superhero spoof ‘Defendor'.
The $4m debut of director Peter Stebbings, it sees Harrelson as Arthur Poppington, who masquerades by night as the titular, tin-hatted lone avenger, on the trail of his arch enemy Captain Industry, with marbles and lime juice his weapons of choice. We love that the D on his costume is duct tape, and his Green Hornet-style eyemask is drawn on like Groucho Marx's moustache.
The trailer hits all the right funny notes and plays up the Batman parody, but also hints that there might be more to this. Short clips of a frustrated and confused out-of-costume Poppington suggest some deeper moments, so this may well turn out to be as much ‘Unbreakable' as ‘Mystery Men'.
Also in the cast are Kat Dennings, Sandra Oh, and the always awesome Elias Koteas. There's no offical release date yet. We'll keep you posted.
