'Scene and Heard' Networking Event in Cardiff
Scene and Heard - A Music in Film Event
An exciting collaboration between SSAW and Welsh Music Foundation
Thursday 28 May 2009
ATRiuM, Cardiff
6pm - 9pm
Free to attend
Skillset Screen Academy Wales (SSAW) and Welsh Music Foundation bring you ‘Scene & Heard', an exciting ask-the-expert and networking event designed to highlight the importance of music in film. If you're a film, animation or music student (or graduate), or perhaps in the early stages of your career, be inspired by Scene & Heard - open to those who want to know how music and film can collaborate and how to make the right connections.
Find out about music and film opportunities, how to get started and areas including copyright and synchronization.
Put your burning questions to a panel of high-profile industry experts, including a director, composer and licensing expert. The panel features Ian Neil, renowned Music Supervisor whose film credentials include Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Lesbian Vampire Killers.
Following the panel Q&A session, a music video from rock band Truckers of Husk will provide a case study to illustrate how a music video project can work and therefore offer a platform for potentially breaking into the industry. Artist Casey Raymond and SSAW MA Film graduate Ewan Morris who worked on the video will join a member of Truckers for discussion.
Informal networking over drinks and nibbles will follow in the ATRiuM foyer space, giving you the chance to network with visual and audio media students, as well as composers and local film-makers to maybe form partnerships of your own.
At the same time, specially tailored speed-networking will take place in the Zen Room, where more established film individuals and companies who are qualified and actively looking to partner up with budding composers on specific projects can forge relationships. We're currently registering interest separately for this element of the evening.
