Manic Street Preachers have broken the silence on their new album, with bassist Nicky Wire telling fans on their official site that they can expect their new record in May.

Soundtrack advocate James Dean Bradfiled and bandmates Sean Moore and Nicky Wire have been recording the new album,  tentatively titled 'Journal For Plague Lovers', at Monmouth's famous Rockfield Studio for the last few weeks. The album is rumoured to feature songs by the band's late guitarist Richie Edwards.

Here's what Wire had to say:

“Just finished recording in Rockfield. Only running orders left to be finalised, then cut the record in New York – looks like middle of May for release. We’re excited, nervous, proud and fearful as usual but can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
